My Philosophy
Rodd’s greatest asset is its people and their breadth.
We maintain our [genuine] excitement for design by resisting the opportunity to become specialists in a single area, we use the diverse range of skills that we have developed to allow us to cross-fertilise ideas and sectors with shared learning.
As a brand we are developing a reputation as an innovation partner and a champion of user centred approaches. Our team is consciously working in an array of sectors and client organisations – with one common theme; innovative, cutting-edge style and market leading design solutions as the unifying deliverable.
My role
I am responsible for pushing the Rodd brand to the widest most receptive audiences. My objective is to raise awareness of our studios capabilities and philosophies about what constitutes good user centred design.
I can see that opportunities will allow us to re-appraise what the role of an industrial design agency actually is as we move further into user centred insight, design led research and collaborative innovation. Over the coming years I envisage that Rodd will engage with clients earlier in the design process and remain in that process far longer.
In practical terms and on a day-to-day basis I still roll up my sleeves and try and learn something each day – either by explores new approaches to problem solving or by tackling design challenges in new markets and sectors.
